Women Transforming Energy: Brooke Ryan

In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are shining a spotlight on the women of Quorum who are transforming the business of energy through technology. This spotlight features Director, Customer Success Brooke Ryan from our Houston office.

Tell us about your current role.  

I am a Director in our Global Customer Care organization. I oversee support and onboarding for our Upstream on Demand Products.  

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received and who did it come from?  

My first manager after college provided great advice that helped guide my career: “Learn to advocate for yourself and find opportunities to make a difference. If an opportunity doesn't exist, create one.”

There have been several moments throughout my career where an opportunity to lead presented itself but seemed like a stretch based on my previous experience. These were pivotal moments in which I wasn’t sure that I was the right fit, but I decided to raise my hand, step up and take on the challenge. When I look back now, these moments proved to be the biggest periods of growth and excitement in my career.

Who inspires you and why?  

My husband inspires me with the leadership qualities that he exhibits in his career. We are in completely different industries, but there are key components to leadership and connecting with your team that translates to any industry.  

At the end of the day, people remember how you made them feel. There will always be stressful situations in any job and maybe even failure. Treating your team, coworkers and customers with respect and supporting them to the best of your ability is the most important thing you can do.  

What keeps you at Q?  

The continuous drive and improvement to better support our customers every day as we transform the business of energy through technology keeps me here.

Also, I have an amazing team! Every member of my team goes above and beyond to help each other learn and grow. They are passionate about their work and helping customers get what they need. We have so many subject matter experts in this group who I learn from every day.

What have you done to develop high-performing teams?  

Establishing trust and connection is crucial. Ensuring that your teams understand the vision and direction you're driving towards helps build connections and sets up your teams for success. Being responsive and available to support your teams in moments of uncertainty and challenges is something I try to keep top of mind.  

What has Q done to support your career/growth?  

Quorum provides opportunities to learn multiple products and areas of the industry. There are so many subject matter experts here to learn and grow from. Quorum has supported me in various phases of my career by providing access to training courses, as well as opportunities to learn through networking, shadowing and learning new areas of the business. 

What is your favorite memory at Q?  

My favorite memory at Q would have to be participating in launching our Community Service Committee in 2019. I got to meet new faces at Quorum and lead multiple events. Quorum values community service and it's amazing to see the level of commitment and participation across the organization year after year.  

What advice do you have for women just starting their career?  

Establish strong connections with colleagues and find a mentor that can help guide you. Also be open to taking on new challenges and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone when you see an opportunity.
