NorthRiver Midstream Partners with Quorum Software to Reduce IT Support Costs for Gas Gathering and Processing

Midstream company implements industry-leading myQuorum TIPS software in the cloud to automate processes and replace a legacy commercial application.

HOUSTON – July 1, 2021 – Quorum Software (Quorum), a Thoma Bravo portfolio company and the global software leader dedicated to the energy industry, today announced that NorthRiver Midstream ("NorthRiver") has successfully completed its journey to replace a highly customized, legacy commercial application and integrate assets to myQuorum TIPS in the cloud. Moving workflows to the Quorum cloud streamlines NorthRiver's operations and increases efficiency across gas gathering and processing.

NorthRiver is a Canadian gas gathering and processing business with operations across prolific gas and oil resource plays in Northeast British Columbia and Alberta. In 2018, when they began seeking a technology partner, the company was tasked with making a difficult decision. Facing the options of investing in a highly customized, legacy commercial application or replacing it and merging it into its current myQuorum TIPS cloud implementation, the company was torn. The legacy application had been inherited from recently acquired assets, and specialized business processes and two decades of application customization presented clear challenges. So over the next 18 months, NorthRiver and Quorum embarked on a journey to first detail the business requirements and then implement that functionality.

"Quorum's professional services team and senior leadership demonstrated throughout the project that they were fully committed to our success," said Jay Billesberger, Senior Vice-President, Operations and Technology at NorthRiver. "They worked tirelessly with us to find solutions that ensured that we stayed on budget and met our deadline, even during the pandemic.  As a result NorthRiver has reduced the IT cost of supporting this part of its business by 75%.  In addition, post-implementation, the professional services team has continued to remain engaged and supportive. Quorum truly is a business partner and essential component to our business operations."

NorthRiver has gained the following benefits from Quorum's software:

  • Improved Data Visibility: myQuorum TIPS eliminates manual processes and gives a 360-degree view into data.
  • Faster Decision-Making: Quorum's gas scheduling and accounting software optimizes complex, interrelated midstream processes, driving faster and more informed decision-making.

Optimizing gas gathering and processing starts with scheduling and accounting. myQuorum TIPS is designed for flexibility, putting the accountant or scheduler in the driver's seat with an intuitive platform that is adaptable to handle exceptions without complicating the ordinary. The first solution to connect and simplify these processes, myQuorum TIPS gives midstream energy companies a 20-year head start improving their operations.
